Capturing the Moment: The Art of Mark Jordan

I create original, fine art acrylic paintings that capture the moving, atmospheric beauty of the natural world. Based in Central New York, I draw a tremendous amount of early inspiration from the diverse topography of New York State—from the dramatic gorges of Letchworth to the quiet majesty of the Adirondacks.

 

While my roots are planted in the Northeast, my artistic curiosity is driven by weather, light, and the raw energy of nature wherever it calls. My work spans far beyond local geography, exploring the moody depth of shifting coastal storms, the brilliant light of tropical waters, and the quiet, electric skies of the upper Northern Hemisphere where the Aurora Borealis takes hold.

 

Every piece I paint is an exploration of contrast: the tension of a gathering storm, the calm of a breaking wave, or the vibrant color hidden within a dark landscape. For me, painting is about capturing a fleeting moment of natural wonder and translating it onto the panel with depth, quality, and a lasting sense of place.
